How many players are on a football team?
11 players per side on the field. Squads typically have 25 players registered for league competitions. Substitutions allow 3-5 changes per game depending on the competition.
What is VAR in football?
Video Assistant Referee — a team of officials reviewing decisions using video replays. It checks goals, penalties, red cards, and mistaken identity. Introduced to the Premier League in 2019-20. Still controversial.
How long is a football match?

What is the offside rule?
A player is offside if they're closer to the opponent's goal than both the ball AND the second-to-last defender when the ball is played to them. Only counts in the opponent's half. It's simpler than people think — the confusion is in the edge cases.
How does relegation work?
The bottom 3 teams in the league are demoted to the division below. The top teams from that division are promoted up. This system exists in most European leagues but NOT in American sports. It's what makes every game matter.
