Rayo at home is one thing, but on the road? Not so much. They've only bagged one win in their last five away fixtures, a 2-0 victory at Espanyol back on March 10. That’s a long time ago in this league. Elche, meanwhile, has been quietly decent at home, pulling off a couple of draws and a narrow loss to Real Betis in their last three at Estadio Manuel MartĂnez Valero.
The key matchup will be Elche’s Lucas Boyé against Rayo's central defense. Boyé's physicality and nose for goal, even with just six goals this season, can be a real handful if Rayo's backline isn't switched on from the whistle. Elche needs to capitalize on set pieces and look for those quick transitions. Rayo’s defense has been leaky, giving up 10 goals in their last five league games. I'm taking Elche to squeak this one out.
Elche 2, Rayo Vallecano 1.
